HAND STUDY

FALL 2018

This piece was one of my earlier forays into printmaking. It is a temporal cross section of a hand in motion, capturing the hand at different points in time. This project is also when I first began to grasp the capabilities of CMYK printing, especially the way in which layering inks can create shapes out of color that I, the artist, did not draw or outline myself. In that regard, I took heavy inspiration from Malika Favre, who is a master of using solid forms and a minimal color palette to create complex, detailed images.
